Jack is a published author, and writes regularly for Gramophone Magazine and Medici TV.

Books

Jack's debut book, 'Raising The Roof: A Dazzling History Of Classical Music', is a vibrant and accessible introduction to classical music, with illustrations by Michele Bruttomesso. Published by Templar / Bonnier Books, it was released in hardback in June 2024 and in paperback edition in September 2025. It is available online and available to order at bookshops including Waterstones, Foyles, WHSmith and more, and online at Amazon.  



In October 2025, Jack's next publication was announced. 'Music We Might Have Played' is a piano anthology of 19 pieces and composers, published by Hal Leonard and available worldwide online and in all good music shops. It shines a light on piano gems deserving a greater spotlight, featuring such writers as Florence Price, Cécile Chaminade and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. It is suitable for Grade 5 piano players and above. The repertoire list was curated by Jack alongside esteemed piano educator Andrew Eales, with the pair providing composer and pedagogical commentary for each piece. Jeneba Kanneh-Mason provides the foreword.





Magazines

Jack is a contributor to Gramophone, including curating their 2022/23, 23/24, 24/25 and 25/26 global Season Previews and writing their official tribute to HM Queen Elizabeth II. He writes features and curates playlists for their website and print magazine.


He also writes a monthly column for Medici TV's Page Turner online magazine, 'Pepper's Portraits'.


Previously: Jack wrote and reviewed for Musicals Magazine, and has written opinion pieces and blogs for The Telegraph,  

The Times, the Daily Mirror, BBC Music Magazine,  Slipped Disc, the Royal Philharmonic Society, Jessica Duchen's JDCMB, Classeek and RadioToday, and a series of columns for Musical Opinion and Jewish News. As a teenager he was a monthly columnist for the industry publication Classical Music Magazine and reviewer for Opera and Opera Today.
